Implementing Einstien STO
Einstein Send Time Optimization (STO) in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) determines the best time to send emails to each subscriber based on their historical engagement behavior. This helps improve open rates, click rates, and overall engagement by delivering messages when contacts are most likely to interact.
Steps to Implement Einstein STO in Journey Builder
1.Prerequisites
Einstein STO must be enabled in your SFMC account.
Historical engagement data (email opens, clicks) should be available.
A sendable Data Extension (DE) or audience should be defined.
Email assets should be created in Content Builder.
2.Create or Open a Journey in Journey Builder
- Log in to Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Navigate to Journey Builder.
- Click “Create New Journey” or open an existing journey.
- Select Multi-Step Journey (STO works only in multi-step journeys).
3.Add an Email Send Activity
- Drag & Drop the “Send Email” activity onto the journey canvas.
- Click on the Email Activity to configure:
- Select an existing email template or create a new one.
- Choose the Sender Profile and Send Classification.
- Personalize the Subject Line (optional with AMPscript).
4.Enable Einstein Send Time Optimization (STO)
- Click on the “Einstein STO” toggle in the email activity.
- Select a Send Window to define the period in which Einstein will optimize send time:
- 3 Hours
- 6 Hours
- 12 Hours
- 24 Hours (Recommended for better optimization)
- Choose a Fallback Send Time (when Einstein cannot determine an optimal time).
- Click Apply to save settings.
How It Works:
- Einstein analyzes each subscriber’s past email engagement behavior.
- It schedules the email to be sent at the best time within the defined window.
- If Einstein doesn’t have enough data, it sends at the fallback time.
5.Add a Wait Time (Optional)
- If you want subsequent actions (e.g., SMS, push notifications) to wait until the STO email is sent:
- Add a “Wait Until Email is Sent” activity after the email send.
- Set the wait time (e.g., 24 hours) to ensure proper sequencing.
6.Validate & Activate the Journey
- Click “Validate” to check for errors.
- Click “Activate” to start the journey.
- Monitor Performance Metrics in Journey Analytics:
- Open Rate
- Click Rate
- Send Time Engagement Trends
